Prime Minister engages with political science students: Decision for Montenegro to become a full NATO member gains its full significance in 2023
As part of the government's commitment to transparency, the Office of the Prime Minister of Montenegro hosted a visit by representatives of the Student Union of Political Science of Montenegro. The students expressed their interest in visiting the government to gain insights into the workings of the executive branch, especially as they prepare for careers in diplomacy, politics, social work, and journalism.
The students were received by Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, who warmly welcomed them and expressed his gratitude for their visit and keen interest.
In the context of discussions on foreign policy, the students inquired about Montenegro's contribution to international organizations and the impact of its NATO membership. The Prime Minister remarked, "The contemporary world is rife with challenges, and Montenegro's decision to become a full NATO member has gained its full significance in 2023."
The student representatives also expressed their interest in local issues, such as the Pljevlja heating project, road construction in the municipality of Rožaje, investments in Bijelo Polje, water supply in Bar, and emphasized the need for central government support to enhance local infrastructure. This, they suggested, would create conditions for young people to return to their hometowns, start working, and establish their families.
In response, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government's top priority is to improve the living standards of its citizens. He said, "I am optimistic when it comes to Montenegro. There is room for progress."
In addition to discussions about improving students' standards of living, employment, and accommodation in student dormitories, the students engaged with the Prime Minister on topics related to tourism development, economic growth, and infrastructure enhancement.
The students were also hosted by the Secretary-General of the Government, Boris Marić.
