Secretary General of the Government decides to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Deputy Secretary General Nikola Kandić

The Secretary General of the Government of Montenegro has made a decision to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Deputy Secretary General of the Government of Montenegro, Nikola Kandić, on suspicion of committing a serious breach of official duty. The decision states that on 2 May 2021, in Podgorica, on a non-working day - Sunday, he improperly used the entrusted means - an official vehicle of the Mercedes brand, registration number PG KE 819, for private purposes, which was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of Serdara Jola Piletića and Jovana Tomaševića streets around 20:00 on that day. The Basic State Prosecutor's Office of Podgorica filed an indictment against him due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of endangering safety of public traffic and failure to provide assistance to the injured person in a traffic accident.

The Secretariat General of the Government of Montenegro calls on interested public to respect the presumption of innocence in this procedure as well as in proceedings before other state bodies as a Constitutional Principle. The public will be informed about the decision after the end of the disciplinary proceedings.
