Spajić meets with newly appointed Ambassador of Serbia to Montenegro Nebojša Rodić
The appointment of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro after 40 months is a positive signal for further strengthening of bilateral relations and an expression of readiness from both sides to contribute to improving regional opportunities in the context of achieving common interests, concluded the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, Nebojša Rodić.
Regional countries must closely collaborate politically and economically to achieve full integration into the European Union, as it is in the interest of our citizens and our economies, said Prime Minister Spajić, adding that Montenegro places regional cooperation and European integration at the top of its foreign policy agenda and therefore seeks to contribute to the stability and European perspective of the entire Western Balkans.
The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Rodić on his appointment and emphasised his expectation that during his tenure, he will make a full contribution to strengthening the friendship between Montenegro and Serbia, based on sovereignty and independence.
The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Nebojša Rodić, expressed satisfaction with his arrival in Montenegro and emphasised that "the historical fact that Montenegro and Serbia are neighbours needs to be strengthened by better cooperation in all areas of mutual interest." He informed the Prime Minister about the current situation in the Republic of Serbia regarding the formation of a new Government and stated that a visit to Montenegro at the highest level could be planned during the year. "We have not had a visit to Montenegro since 2013. That approach should be changed, and we expect it to give impetus to our further relations," said Rodić.
The officials exchanged views on opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, tourism, economy, and transportation, and they highly valued the organisation of EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, which, as they emphasised, will be an important opportunity for Montenegro as well as for all neighbouring countries.
