Spajić on adoption of the "Barometer 26" Platform: A hand extended to all who want Montenegro in the EU by 2028
The Montenegrin Cabinet, at its 60th session held today, unanimously adopted the "Barometer 26" platform. On this occasion, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić emphasized that the Government’s hand is extended to all who share the vision of Montenegro joining the European Union by 2028.
In a video address, Spajić highlighted that this document reinforces the shared responsibility of Montenegro’s key parliamentary political actors to collaborate in successfully concluding EU accession negotiations by the end of 2026.
This is a public expression of the maturity of Montenegrin society, as well as the determination of political parties to prioritize the national interest over party interests, by supporting all the reforms necessary to complete the negotiations with the EU, the Prime Minister stated.
He further noted that socially sensitive and politically polarizing issues, which could divert attention from the EU accession process or lead to political stalemates, will not be raised in parliamentary discourse without broad societal consensus. Such consensus, he added, could be articulated through established resolution mechanisms.
We also recognize the need for significantly improved regional cooperation and the best possible bilateral relations with EU member states. All stakeholders are called upon to contribute fully to resolving open issues and strengthening our good neighbourly relations. Our hand is extended, the Prime Minister concluded in his video message.
