Spanish Prime Minister pays official visit to Montenegro
Prime Minister Dritan Abazović hosted Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro today.
Prime Minister Abazović, Deputy Prime Minister Jovana Marović, and Minister Goran Đurović welcomed the Spanish Prime Minister with full military honors.
The delegations of Montenegro and Spain noted that there is potential to further develop friendly and traditionally good relations between the two countries.
We fully support Montenegro on its European path. Montenegro must be united, stable and make the necessary reforms. You can play an important role in achieving stability in the region. The Western Balkans belong to the EU, and Montenegro is first in line to join the European Union. The goal of the enlargement policy and the integration process is to build a strong Europe, the Prime Minister of Spain emphasised.
Prime Minister Sánchez stated that the Kingdom of Spain will establish a diplomatic mission in Montenegro, headed by Charge d'Affaires Manuel Durán Giménez-Rico.
Prime Minister Abazović expressed his satisfaction regarding Prime Minister Sánchez's visit, pointing out that this is a historic moment because it is the first visit of the Spanish Prime Minister to Montenegro since our independence.
Prime Minister Abazović thanked Sánchez for his continuous support in achieving our foreign policy priorities - our European path and strengthening the partnership within NATO.
Abazović underlined that Montenegro is a country that can revive the enlargement process in the best possible way, stressing that it is fully aligned with the foreign and security policy of the EU and NATO, but also strongly supports the open door policy for all interested countries.
Prime Minister Abazović said that Montenegro promotes a policy of peace, stability and good neighbourly relations in the Western Balkans and wants to encourage a new policy of reconciliation and cooperation in the region.
