UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser thanks Montenegro for support and collaboration

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu, has addressed a letter to Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanović, expressing gratitude for their recent meeting during the UN General Assembly, as well as Montenegro's ongoing support and collaboration with her Office.

In her letter, Under-Secretary-General Nderitu extended her deep appreciation for Montenegro’s proactive role in genocide prevention and the prevention of similar atrocities. She commended Montenegro's commitment to engaging youth as key contributors in reconciliation efforts and conflict prevention across the Western Balkans.

I greatly value our exchange of views on the importance of regional initiatives aimed at bringing people closer together, including Montenegro’s steadfast commitment to and support for such initiatives, the letter states.

Nderitu affirmed that Montenegro will continue to have the support of her Office, and her personal commitment, as they advance shared efforts towards lasting reconciliation and stability.
