Ibrahimović-Kajalar: TIKA is greatly contributing to strengthening Montenegro-Turkey relations
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, met today in Podgorica with the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Serkan Kajalar, who is visiting Montenegro.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that TIKA plays an important role in strengthening relations between Montenegro and Turkey, making a significant contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation.
Since TIKA established its office in Podgorica in 2007, around 500 development projects have been implemented, with a total value exceeding 20 million euros.
Minister Ibrahimović stated that “TIKA is an integral part of the success story of Montenegro-Turkey relations,” highlighting the agency’s presence across all regions of Montenegro through its various projects. He pointed out that this dynamic cooperation is accompanied by an intensive high-level political dialogue, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to fostering and further developing their friendly relations.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration in the areas of education and culture, as well as the potential for new projects in transport infrastructure. “The best testament to our countries’ cooperation are concrete results, the success of Turkish companies in Montenegro and the growing interest in new investments. All of this strengthens not only economic ties but also the overall intergovernmental relations,” Ibrahimović stated.
TIKA President Kajalar noted that since his last visit to Montenegro four years ago, cooperation between Turkey and Montenegro has been on an upward trajectory. He emphasized that the number and impact of successfully completed projects across Montenegrin municipalities stand as the best proof of both countries’ commitment to strengthening ties.
“Our goal was to reach every corner of Montenegro, and we have succeeded,” Kajalar said, expressing gratitude to the Montenegrin government for its support and highly successful cooperation. He highlighted that TIKA implemented 35 projects in Montenegro last year, with even more ambitious plans for 2025. “We are particularly pleased that these projects directly improve the everyday lives of citizens.”
The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ dedication to further developing bilateral cooperation, as well as Turkey’s commitment to strengthening stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
