Spajić: We do not want to waste time - More intensive cooperation with the EU at all levels
Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, received today the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Ambassador Oana Cristina Popa.
Prime Minister Spajić informed the Ambassador about the plans to strengthen the negotiation structure of Montenegro and the overall administrative capacity to speed up the necessary social reforms so that Montenegro would become a member of the European Union as soon as possible.
We do not want to waste time. In addition to the political, it is important to establish more intensive technical cooperation between Montenegro and the European Union so that the two administrations could overcome potential open issues in direct communication and thereby contribute to a more efficient integration of Montenegro into the EU, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Ambassador said that the EU welcomed the formation of the new Montenegrin Parliament and the establishment of the Government, which, as she pointed out, are expected to show their capacity and commitment to achieving results in the reforms related to EU accession as soon as possible.
We encourage all political stakeholders in Montenegro to focus on building consensus on the priority activities needed for Montenegro to make progress towards the EU, primarily in the area of the rule of law, with a view to meeting the interim benchmarks from Chapters 23 and 24, especially in relation to key judiciary appointments and long-delayed EU reforms, she said.
