Mujović: Project to relocate the Ćehotina riverbed is of national importance
At today's session, the Montenegrin Cabinet accepted the proposal from the Ministry of Energy and Mining to designate the project for the relocation of the Ćehotina riverbed as a project of public interest.
I believe this reflects the Government's responsibility, and it was a necessary step because this project is truly of the utmost national importance, stated Minister of Energy and Mining Saša Mujović.
He emphasised that the project to relocate the Ćehotina riverbed should have been realized several years ago. Due to the delay, the current situation is such that the exploitation of coal has reached its limits at the current site, and cracks have appeared along the Ćehotina River, threatening both human lives and the continuation of coal extraction.
The Minister stressed that there is no time to waste, and the process of relocating the Ćehotina riverbed must proceed urgently. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy and Mining, along with the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property, and the Secretariat for Legislation, have obtained all the necessary documentation to expedite the project's implementation.
