The Luča project, the first Montenegrin satellite, was presented today. The Luča project, i.e. the project to launch the first Montenegrin satellite, is the most important project of the Montenegro Space Research organisation, which was initiated by three young innovators: Filip Jovićević, Nina Drakulić, and Nikola Perović.

During the presentation, the young innovators talked about the project, its specifics, plans, as well as the activities of this organisation in the education of young people in the field of robotics and space technology.

The first Montenegrin satellite in space will be a historic moment for all of us. Luča is the light that will light the way for all new projects in the field of space research in Montenegro, Filip Jovićević said and pointed out that they expect Luča to be sent into space in the middle of next year.

Presenting the technical specifications of the satellite and the rocket with which it will be launched into space, innovator Nikola Perović said that Luča belongs to the category of small satellites that will be launched to an altitude of 500-600 km, and will spend 2-3 years in space. It is an incredible feeling to be part of a project that will become a part of history. We are especially proud that the heart of Luča will be assembled in our laboratory, said Perović.

Nina Drakulić spoke about the importance of educating young people in terms of robotics and space technologies. She informed the audience about the recently held robotics competition and plans for cooperation with the countries of the region in order to improve the competitiveness of young people in the future.

Minister of Science and Technological Development Biljana Šćepanović emphasised the importance of the project and said that young innovators are proof that Montenegro has the capacity for large projects that connect countries. Our task is to empower and support such young people, said Šćepanović.

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović reiterated the commitment of the Government to support this and similar projects. He encouraged young innovators to work on new discoveries and projects. Prejudices and lack of self-confidence must not be obstacles to development. Luča is proof that such projects are achievable and a kind of incentive for young people to follow your path, said the Prime Minister.

Representatives of the Montenegro Space Research organisation thanked the Prime Minister and the Minister for the support.
